Parent Meeting Tomorrow

Just a reminder of the Parent Meeting tomorrow (Thursday March 27) at 5 pm in the Guidance area. It is an important meeting for parents to learn about their child’s crew and coach and the on-water schedule and expectations. Also an excellent opportunity to organize car-pools! I would also be happy to receive your club/high school fees for the on-water season of $340. See you there!

Registration and Website Issues

Thank you to everyone who has tried to register on the SCRC website as instructed. Unfortunately, the site continues to have problems. Mark Welsh, Director of High School Rowing for the Club has asked us to stop trying until we hear from him. I am sure he will get this bug dealt with quickly. I will post here when the system is a ‘go” and registration can be completed.

A REMINDER: Any athlete who sold over $100 in our fall citrus fundraiser can take $25 off the spring fees – so $315 instead of $340 – thank you!

Message from SCRA

Online registration on the website is back up and running. We continue to do work on the site so some pages are still not loading. We prioritized getting the registration and Captain’s dinner info back up first knowing we want the HS athletes to get registered. Thank you for your patience with this and with mother nature.

And – coaches – thank you for your work with all your athletes during the dry land season!

SCRC Registration

Your child needs to register with the St Catharines Rowing Club in order to row at the club and enter regattas during the high school season. Registration is now available on both the SCRC site and the RCA site. Please use the unique log on information as last year (2013) so that a new account is not created.

Everyone needs to go to both sites and register as high school before getting on the water.

The fee for spring rowing is $340 which needs to be paid to Sir Winston Churchill Rowing if paying by cheque. Thank you.

Spring Parent Meeting

It might be hard to believe with ice still on the course, but there is hope that our crews will soon be on the water! In anticipation of this, we will be hosting a spring parent meeting on Thursday March 27 at 5 pm in the Guidance area of SWC. This is an opportunity for you to meet your child’s on-water coach (which may be different from their winter training coach), arrange car-pooling with other parents in the crew and sign up for Bulldog Tent duty at regattas. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Spending our Fund Raiser Money

We are pleased to tell you that through your fundrasing efforts this past fall, we are ordering parts from Concept 2 for the upgrading and maintainance of our ergometer fleet. I know this may not be as exciting as a new tent (last year) or new oars (the year before) but I am sure from last weekend’s competition and your child’s winter training, just how important this equipment is to our program. Our athletes log thousands of hours and kilometres on these machines over the winter to prepare themselves physically and in technique, for getting on the water. A great big thank you to James Combe who put this order together and has committed to doing the maintenance required once the order arrives. Thank you to everyone who participated in the fall fund raiser to allow this to happen. Go Bulldogs!

Brock Tank and Ontario Erg Fees

It is very important that we collect all the monies owed for these two events. Please ensure that your child has delivered the Brock Tank fees to their coach before the March Break. We have close to a $2000 bill to pay. As well, if your child was in last weekend’s ergometer championship and has not paid their $15 entry fee, they can bring that to Ms Hunt by the end of the week as well. Thank you
