I am very proud and humbled by the effort and sportsmanship of every member of our team today. It was the first rowing race for about 75% of our team and the first regatta for myself as a coach. I hope everyone enjoyed the day.
Our Junior Boys four started off the day by winning and making it look easy, great job steering in your first race Evy.
Our Lwt Boys four came second, by chasing a very experienced Eden crew down the course, distancing themselves from 4 other teams. Great job holding your course/ground in the first 500m vs Ridley, Brittany.
The Lwt Boys 8+, seized an opportunity and held on to second place and beat the other Lwt crew in their race( I wish I could have been at the finish line). Morgan you really rallied your crew.
Marc Rose and Chris Dumas got to experience the thrill of racing by being part a Junior Hwt crew that rowed a steady and sustainable pace for 2000m. Max took it easy on the rate to help this boat go as fast as possible – I’m sure he wanted to crank the rate – next time.
Arrin & Parker rowed to a fourth place in a highly competitive field of Doubles. They rowed two tough time trials(2 x 1500m) Saturday night in their bid to qualify for the Stotesbury Regatta.
I hope this regatta convinces everyone that all the work we did in the winter paid off, and that if we continue to improve our skill and fitness that we all be very satisfied with our results and have a fun and memorable season.
Thanks and well done Guys and Girls !
Gary
